Christine and Ty’s Timber Cove wedding was a masterclass in intentional event design, seamlessly blending personal significance with aesthetic sophistication. Situated on the striking Sonoma Coast, the weekend celebration was an immersive experience grounded in design theory, spatial flow, and environmental context. As both planners and longtime friends of the couple, we were honored to help translate their creative vision into an unforgettable weekend.
For Christine and Ty, Timber Cove was more than a venue—it was a location rich in familial memory and cultural context. With generational ties to nearby Jenner, the couple’s relationship with the site extended beyond aesthetics. Timber Cove’s mid-century architecture and environmentally conscious ethos aligned seamlessly with their values as a design-driven couple.
Guests arrived for a fully immersive weekend, beginning with a welcome reception on Friday evening. An unscheduled Saturday morning encouraged informal exploration—including local hiking, coastal walks, and time in nearby Bodega Bay—before convening for an afternoon ceremony. The geographic seclusion of the resort fostered an environment of shared experience and community, with all attendees residing on site for the duration of the event.
Christine, a professional floral designer with a background in fashion, curated an ensemble that balanced expressive design and ease. Her Rue de Seine gown paired effortlessly with a sculptural, hand-tied bouquet. Ty opted for a refined brown suit that echoed the surrounding landscape’s natural hues. Their ceremony, intentionally minimalist in structure, excluded a traditional wedding party to focus attention on their union.
A key experiential moment came when their golden retriever puppy, Oak, entered as an honorary ring bearer alongside the couple’s nephews. The ceremony space, framed by the coastal landscape, was punctuated with florals in rust, lavender, and golden tones—selected not for cohesion but for emotive resonance and organic movement.
Post-ceremony, guests gathered inside the Timber Cove lodge for an evening meal served family-style. Christine’s design studio, Wilderland, executed tablescapes that were textural and layered, using natural elements to echo the coastal surroundings. Her own bouquet—which she personally finalized the morning of the wedding—was a meaningful artifact of the day’s creative process.
This Timber Cove wedding was not merely an event, but a curated experience. Every aspect—from the spatial layout to the organic materials and natural color palette—was considered to promote connection, comfort, and visual harmony. The immersive nature of the weekend, with all guests housed on site, allowed for organic moments of interaction and reflection. Morning coffees on the deck, long-form conversations around the fire, and slow shared meals all contributed to a celebration that felt grounded and communal.
