As we gear up for another fantastic wedding season, I can’t help but get incredibly giddy about all the pretty little details that surround a couple’s special day. One of those details are the favors that a couple gifts to their guests at the end of the evening. Although I’m the first to say that not all favors are good favors, I’m certainly a fan of wedding favors that don’t contribute to vast amounts of waste at the end of the evening. When these small gifts can be eco-friendly and trendy at the same time, it’s a win for everyone. For some inspiration for your own Lake Tahoe wedding favors, take a peek at some of my favorite ideas below.
What says “Thanks for attending our beautiful Lake Tahoe wedding” more than a gift your guests can take home and plant directly into their backyard. Seeds and saplings are a great way to add color, reduce waste and promote the beautifying of our planet.
I love the idea of guests taking home something that they can put together later – like your favorite cookie recipe or a special spice that you love to cook with yourself. Individual champagne bottles are another fantastic option for guests to toast in your honor when they get home!
Providing flannel blankets for cooler nights are a Tahoe wedding staple. They’re a fantastic gift for guests to take home at the end of the night. I’m also a fan of gifting your guests coffee beans from a favorite tropical vacation spot.
Enhance your wedding colorscape by adding a wedding smell. How many weddings have attended lately that have their own scent? Guests can take your wedding scent home in the form of adorable soaps or small

On this blustery December morning, I thought I would fill my Tuesday with a blog post about yours truly and how I got my start in this wonderful industry of wedding and event planning. My name is Kyleigh and I am a Lake Tahoe wedding planner, the owner of Audere Events.
I got my start in the event and wedding industry when I was 19. It started as a summer job, to fill my weekends with while in between the spring and fall semesters. I was working a gorgeous mountain lodge, which was also owned by another event company in the area. Pretty soon I was floating back and forth between mountain weddings at the lodge and weddings on the lake.
Production days were my favorite. I loved walking in to a massive empty space at ridiculously early hours of the morning and knowing that by early afternoon, it would look like an entirely different space. I loved the feeling of accomplishment, when a completely ordinary space finally looked like something out of an extraordinary fairytale.
When that first summer was over, I chose to continue pursuing my degree in Psychology, with the addition of two minors in Business Administration and Communications. Coupled with my two years of work experience in weddings and events, I felt I had a well balanced education. After graduation, I took a position as a full time wedding planner in Truckee.
It seems silly to say but there was a fairly large world of difference between planning weddings as a venue coordinator, versus planning weddings as a wedding planner. Despite the initial learning curve, I couldn’t think of anything else I would rather be doing. I was helping couples, from start to finish, with the day that they would look back most fondly on. Helping them create memories and create something that was so uniquely them. I loved the emotions and reactions that I would see from my couples, as they day they had dreamed about had finally arrived.
It is an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to work alongside such wonderful people during such a joyous time in their lives. After five years of working as a Lake Tahoe wedding planner, I know that I have found my calling and I feel so grateful to have found it.
I am not a fan of wedding favors. I find them wasteful and oftentimes a total oversight. I am not a fan of wedding favors. I find them wasteful and oftentimes a total oversight. However, with that being said, I am a fan of wedding favors when they are well thought out and serve a significant purpose. Wedding favors that can double as escort cards are just that. They are resourceful while providing a personal touch that your guests can take home with them. I’ve compiled a few of my favorite non-paper escort card trends below.
We’ve all seen the custom mini-champagne bottles that serve as favor cards, but take it one step further and tailor it to your theme. These vintage soda bottles with personalized labels and camping thermoses with name tags are a super rad fit for the ‘Burgers’ and ‘Summer Camp’ themes.
Tiled, sea and modern shaped glasses all provide a very different aesthetic, each appropriate for a different kind of event. However, the overall aesthetic the hand written calligraphy provides is elegant and whimsical, perfect for a touch of romance to any wedding or event.
Whether you are hosting a casual dinner or an elegant affair, trinkets of all shapes and sizes can be used as a seating indicator. I especially love the arts and crafts feel that the engraved leather strips and azurite rocks have. But the clear glass boxes with name cards and greenery sprigs are easily repurposed at home. A cassette tape can be a great throwback gift, and host a few of your favorite songs to be played throughout the evening as well, to serve as a wonderful reminder of how fun your reception was.
All in all, it’s really up to your own imagination to create something unique to your personal style. But I’d love to help you along the way! Drop a line in the comment box below and let us know your ideas for your favor-escort cards.

One of the largest challenges I consistently see my brides and grooms struggle with, is knowing who to cut from their guest list and how to cut them without hurting anyone’s feelings. Hey, I get it. It can be really, really tough. When you’re like me and everyone in your family has been divorced and remarried, sometimes even twice, your list becomes astronomically high with names before you even get started adding your friends to that list. You could be looking at a list of 300+ names and working within a budget or a venue with a tight maximum capacity. So what do you do?
Number one way to cut that list down? No kids! Unless it’s a child in your immediate family or a member of the junior bridal party, say buh-bye. If your cousin really can’t get a babysitter 6+ months in advance, or can’t bear to leave her child’s side for just a few hours, then so be it. That’s two less adults you’ll need to worry about as well.
When looking at your list of friends and extended family, you may notice that many are also married. If that rings true, then ask yourself if you received an invitation to their wedding. If the answer is no and they didn’t elope or have another legitimate reason for you not being invited to their wedding, then you can very well rescind their invitations without feeling guilty.
In a perfect world, we wouldn’t be dealing with budgets, venue limitations or personal family dramas. We would be able to invite everyone on our list and sending out those invitation would be so much easier. Unfortunately, it’s not a perfect world and we do have very real limitations we are working with. At a certain point, it’s your responsibility to decide who’s getting the boot. You can 100% tell Mom she can’t bring all of her friends from yoga and you can certainly let your college friends know that if the budget allowed it, you’d love to have them, but it can’t so you can’t.
If you’re still not sure who to cut from your guest list, then check out the handy graphic below. And if that doesn’t work, then contact us for a complimentary consultation for your own Lake Tahoe wedding.
My favorite thing about wedding ceremony arches is that they can be as creative as you wish for them to be. In fact, the term ‘ceremony arch’ almost seems to be more of a very loose guideline. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a physical arch. It’s more of a ceremony backdrop, if you will. Something that […]
My favorite thing about wedding ceremony arches is that they can be as creative as you wish for them to be. In fact, the term ‘ceremony arch’ almost seems to be more of a very loose guideline. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a physical arch. It’s more of a ceremony backdrop, if you will. Something that will frame you and your partner, for those beautiful wedding blog worthy photos. I mean that’s really why we go to all the trouble to design something so beautiful and so unique, right? We want those breathtaking wedding blogs to feature our weddings after the vows so we can humble brag how beautiful our weddings are. While we all know that the end goal is a custom design, something no one else has ever seen, it can sometimes take a moment to get inspired and find the direction you’re wanting to go. Whether you’ve found your design niche, or are still searching for your ‘aha’ moment, you can check out some of my favorite boho ceremony arch ideas below.
I am obsessed with geometrical shapes. Just ask my fiancé – every nook and cranny in our home is currently covered with them. I love the idea of framing your ceremony with geometric shapes. Adding greenery, candles and pops of color helps soften the various angles, giving your final product some very boho vibes.
Fringe and macrame are classic boho elements and I love the texture that a good piece of fringe has to offer. Especially when it hangs at different levels like shown in the above images. Even if at an outdoor venue, bringing in natural elements like a wood frame or a garland of greenery keep the fabrics from looking out of place.
The messy and organic nature of the pieces above can be described as the very definition of a ceremony backdrop. Loose greenery, accented with pops of floral color are the perfect touch to a very ethereal boho look. Whether you are inside or outside for your ceremony, a seemingly floating backdrop is surely something magical.
